Jessica and Robert

What another gorgeous wedding at the Old Courthouse on Decatur Square. And let’s not forget the picture perfect couple, Jessica and Robert!

Jessica had such an elegant design, that we must add, she mostly did herself. (Way to go girl!). Her yellow and gray color scheme was beautifully displayed in the courthouse setting.

Woodlands Fields Photography did an amazing job capturing the elegance of Jessica and Robert’s wedding.

BASH was so excited to do all the floral and centerpiece arrangements for this event. It is so fun when a bride has a great vision!

Avante Catering provided delicious food (the best macaroni and cheese on the planet) and a gourgeous and tasty cake.

Such a wonderful and beautiful wedding! Here’s to you, Jessica and Robert.

Mother-of-the-Bride Gift

Sometimes it feels like the Mother-of-the-Bride gets the least amount of credit. She doesn’t get a special dance with her daughter. She doesn’t usually make a toast. And she is usually the one putting together all the last minute details (on top of dealing with all the last minute crises… Well, unless you have a coordinator, *ahem*, but I digress.)

Maybe it is Mothers Day that got us thinking of Mothers. Or maybe it is just the fact that we see these special ladies putting so much time and effort into their daughter’s wedding without much recognition in return.

So that your mom knows how much you appreciate her and all her work, it might be worth grabbing her a little something on your big day.

Here are a couple unique ideas:

A customized chalkboard, for the shabby-chic mom.

A charm bracelet, for the hip mom.

A framed picture on a plaque, for the sentimental mom.A unique piece of jewelry, for the elegant mom.An embroidered handkerchief, for the traditional mom.

Caitlin and David

Another beautiful day in Atlanta, and another fabulous wedding at the Wimbish House! Caitlin and David Chambers were married on March 24, 2012 and Neal Reeves Photography was able to capture the memories for them on their special day! It was such a pleasure working with Caitlin and her family, as I only met David at rehearsal for the first time, as I do many grooms. But, yes, he was wonderful to work with as well and really has stolen his brides heart. Both of them were so calm this day and really were able to take it all in and enjoy themselves. Caitlin along with Melanie, Le Bonne Fleur, picked out beautiful colors that worked perfectly with the syle of the house and even the bride was able to finish up a few DIY projects to tie it all together. Congratulations Caitlin and David!

Chanel inspired theme wedding

“A girl should be two things, classy and fabulous!”

…..and so should your wedding! Coco Chanel introduced the “little black dress” in 1926. At the time this modern sophistication was just another blink in the eye of the fashion world. Little would we know that the brand will carry on forever. Coco Chanel was always adorned with costume jewelry and, beautiful textiles and gogeous simplicity. Make fashion history on your big day with these ideas from the legacy of one of the best known fashion designers.

Super Succulents

“Super Succulents”

I wish we could see more of these in bouquets. Succulents are so clean and their design adds such a cool element to a bouquet or arrangement. You can use succulents for southern theme decor or even in a modern museum! You don’t even think about fun stuff like this unless you are working with a super creative florist, like Le Bonne Fleur or Blossoms Atlanta, here in Atlanta, Georgia!!  Some are even tiny enough to go in a boutonniere. Or, what about favors, placed at each place setting? That’s definitely something that would be enjoyed long after the wedding!

DIY: Personalized Etched Glass

Ah, the wedding toast! Imagine, the Best Man, in front of everyone, trying his best to get some laughs and tears from your wedding crowd. You and your now husband are raising your flutes to a toast that did happen to make you laugh and tear up a little.
(Bravo Best Man! Bravo!)

Now imagine if that toast was even more special because you have a personalized flute to drink from.

Personalized Wedding Flutes

Or say you aren’t going for the formal look. You’re wedding is an outdoor country wedding with self service. What about placing these super cute Decanters from Simply Personalized in ice atop each farm table?

What? You don’t have an extra few hundred dollars to get this look? Nonsense!
This project is easy, costs under $2 per item and seriously took 5 minutes.
(My type of DIY, right?)

For this project I imagined a Best Man giving a toast with his favorite beer in hand. He can’t give the toast with his bottle, right?
(Snooty snickers!)
So of course I made him a Best Man Glass Mug!

I started out with this old fashion glass mug.
(Something about it just screams Clint Eastwood!)

Added a “Best Man” label to it.

Liberally applied Etching Cream over the label.
(Got mine for $12 over at Hobby Lobby, just in case you were wondering.)

Let it sit for about 20 minutes and wiped away the excess.

And there you go… Best Man gift and special mug!

Now go ahead, find some glassware and etch ’til your heart’s content!

Colorful, Bold, and Chic

If you are spirited and fun and want to incorporate whit and whimsy into your wedding, then this type of wedding will inspire your guests to kick back, relax, and enjoy the celebration! If this is your idea of a perfect wedding, you should also think about wearing converse sneakers. You can also have big, round balloons, party blowers, and colorful and striped straws. Bold flowers, like peonies, dahlias, poppies, or African daisies will add a pop to your decor.
There are several ideas for this wedding style that I like and one of them is very, very simple. Paper link chains, like the kind you can make for Christmas or birthday decorations. Since this idea is so simple and everyone has probably made them at one point in their life, I won’t be giving instructions on how to make these.

I will be giving instructions about how to make Heart Shaped Programs. These super cute programs can also double as a fan for your guests if you are having a summer wedding in the southern heat.
You will need:
  • Two hundred twenty 8 1/2 x 11 inch red card stock
  • 100 wood fan handles
  • a heart shaped program template (you can get it at www.chronicalebooks.com.handmade-weddings)
  • a printer
  • scissors
  • pencil
  • double sided tape or glue (and extra tape too)
  1. Customize and print your programs

Customize your program text using the online template (this is completely optional, this is the book’s shameless self promotion) Print 110 copies of each side of the program onto whatever color card stock. (The extra ten copies are in case you mess a few up.) Using scissors, cute each program into a heart shaped, following the outline on the template and being careful to cut inside the line so the outline doesn’t show.

  2.  Assemble your programs
Place your hearts back-to-back. Try to pair up hearts that match each other as closely as possible, as there will be some inconsistencies due to the hand cutting. Once you are happy with your pairings, take the first two hearts and lay them side-by-side, right-sides down, on your work surface. Center a fan handle on one of the hearts, left to right, and position it vertically so that the top 6 inches of the handle lie inside the hearts, and the bottom 3 inches lie outside of it, forming the handle. Mark the handle position on the heart with a pencil. Dispense glue or double-sided tape on one side of the top 6 inches of the handle and press into place. Dispense glue or double-sided tape along the heart-shaped areas of the same hears as well as the second side of the handle. Align the second hearts, right-side up, over the glued side and press down firmly. Repeat for all programs.
If you have a longer ceremony, you can print both sides of the fan and add decoration along the borders. You can also cut out a different shape to fit a longer ceremony on the programs.
This can be done for about $50-$75. And don’t forget, you can always change the color and pattern to make it fit the scheme of your wedding!
